Edgar Bronfman Jr.
Mr. Bronfman has served as our Executive Chairman since April 2020. Mr. Bronfman is a General Partner, Chairman and Co-founder of Waverley Capital, a venture capital group focused on the opportunities presented by disruption in the media industry. He is also a Managing Partner at Accretive LLC, a unique firm that specializes in creating companies to solve important problems in large industries. Mr. Bronfman is also Executive Chairman of Global Thermostat LLC, a pioneering company designed to develop and commercialize a technology for the direct capture of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and other sources.
Mr. Bronfman is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Warner Music, one of the world's largest music companies. During Mr. Bronfman's tenure, WMG was named one of Fortune Magazine's “Most Admired Companies” in 2007, the first music company ever to receive the honor and, in 2009, was recognized as one of the “The World's 50 Most Innovative Companies,” by Fast Company magazine.
Mr. Bronfman is Chairman of Endeavor Global, a non-profit organization pioneering a new approach to international development. Mr. Bronfman also serves on the board of New York University Elaine A. and Kenneth G. Langone Medical Center, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Chief Executive Officer, Director, and Co-founder of fuboTV
Mr. Gandler was appointed as our Chief Executive Officer and Director in April 2020. Mr. Gandler is the Co-founder of fuboTV, the live TV streaming platform that is transforming how people watch sports, news and entertainment, and has served as its Chief Executive Officer since January 2015. Under Mr. Gandler’s leadership, fuboTV has quickly evolved into a leading virtual MVPD with a focus on innovation.
fuboTV launched in 2015 as a streaming soccer service and today is a sports-focused cable TV replacement for the entire family. In April 2020, fuboTV closed a merger with FaceBank Group, Inc. to create a leading digital entertainment company, combining fuboTV’s direct-to-consumer live TV streaming platform for cord-cutters with FaceBank’s technology-driven IP in sports, movies and live performances. Through the merger, fuboTV began trading on the OTCQB and intends to uplist to a major stock exchange in the coming months.
Popular with cord-cutters, fuboTV is consistently first to market across a number of areas including product and technology (first and still only vMVPD to stream in 4K), advertising (launched dynamic ad insertion in January 2018 ahead of most competitors) and content (distribution agreements with 100+ channels and 770+ local network stations in 99% of the U.S.; its own fubo Sports Network with original programming). Forbes named fuboTV to its Next Billion Dollar Startups list in 2019.
Prior to founding fuboTV, Mr. Gandler had a prolific advertising career with more than 15 years of video sales in local broadcast and cable TV within both the general and Hispanic market, including at Scripps Networks Interactive, Time Warner Cable Media Sales and NBCUniversal’s Telemundo Media.
Mr. Gandler was recognized as a leading exec in Variety’s 2020 and 2019 Dealmakers List and named to the 2017 Broadcasting & Cable Power 100. He is frequently quoted in major publications and has been a featured speaker at leading industry and banking conferences.
Head of Studio and Director
Mr. Textor was appointed as our Head of Studio in April 2020, and has served as a Director since August 2018. Mr. Textor is globally recognized as a media and technology innovator and producer of feature films and live entertainment. He is a developer of technologies and applications, and a co-founder of development stage companies, which combined to create Facebank Group, a character-based virtual entertainment company, and a leading developer of digital human likeness for celebrities and consumers, focused on applications in traditional entertainment, sports entertainment, live events, social networking, mixed reality (AR/VR) and artificial intelligence.
Mr. Textor was appointed FaceBank Group’s Chief Executive Officer and Director in August 2018, ultimately becoming Executive Chairman (interim) in connection with the Company’s merger with fuboTV, Inc. He resigned his interim post as Executive Chairman upon the appointment of Mr. Bronfman, in April 2020, and currently serves as director and Head of Studio of fuboTV, focused on the continued development of large-scale, technology-driven content initiatives.
Featured as "Hollywood's Virtual Reality Guru" by Forbes Magazine in 2016, Mr. Textor is widely credited as a pioneer of the new industry of Virtual Entertainment, responsible for the 2012 appearance of Virtual Tupac at the Coachella in 2012, Virtual Michael Jackson at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards and the development of Virtual ABBA (2019).
He was previously Chairman of Digital Domain, a multiple Academy Award winning visual effects company responsible for the visual effects of more than 80 large scale feature films, such as Transformers, The Curios Case of Benjamin Button, Tron:Legacy, Real Steel, Pirates of the Caribbean, Iron Man III and Thor. Mr. Textor was also Producer and Executive Producer of Ender’s Game, a science fiction fantasy film.
As an early technology investor, and managing partner of Wyndcrest Holdings, Mr. Textor was best known for his financial support of Art Technology Group, an internet personalization technology pioneer that would achieve a $10.5 billion valuation as one of the top IPOs of 1999. He was also founder and largest shareholder of Virtual Bank, an early Internet banking pioneer that became a multi-billion dollar diversified financial services company, responsible for MicrosoftVirtualBank, EMCVirtualBank and WorldcomVirtualBank. Separately, he served as Chairman of BabyUniverse.com, which was sold to eToys, of which he also became Chairman. He also served as Chairman and principal owner of Sims Snowboards, the world’s 2nd leading snowboard brand, through which he created the World Snowboarding Championship.
Mr. Textor is a graduate of Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.
Mr. Bafer has served as our Director since April 2020. He also served as our Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board from February 2018 to August 2018. In addition, Mr. Bafer served as our Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer and a member of our Board of Directors from 2009 to 2016 and from April 2017 to January 2018. He also served as our Chief Development Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2016 to January 2018. Mr. Bafer is a seasoned executive and an established entrepreneur, with diverse experience in entertainment, technology, venture capital, and investment management. Mr. Bafer successfully led the organization and development of numerous startup companies, having also achieved a number of successful exits. He is principally responsible for the transformation of our Company from a film entertainment and production company, into a forward-looking entertainment technology and mixed reality company. Mr. Bafer’s business management and financial acumen were apparent even early on in his career and have permeated throughout it ever since. After graduating in the top 4% of his St. John’s University class, Mr. Bafer moved on to help manage a $500 million portfolio at Merrill Lynch in New York City. He then assumed a position as senior account executive with Preferred Securities Group in Boca Raton, Florida, where he was quickly promoted to President and Managing Director, responsible for overseeing the firm’s three trading offices, 50 registered representatives and numerous support personnel. From there he accepted an equity position as a fund manager where he was involved in all aspects of building, organizing and managing a hedge fund. Throughout his career, Mr. Bafer has been active as a venture capitalist and business incubator, where he has been instrumental in support of numerous prominent start-up ventures.
Mr. Pärson has served as our Director since May 2020. Mr. Pärson has been a General Partner at Northzone since 2004. At Northzone, his primary areas of focus are disruptive businesses in consumer internet, health and fintech. His portfolio includes multi-billion dollar exits in market-defining companies such as Spotify, iZettle and Avito, as well as Pricerunner, Jasper, Videoplaza, and current companies like fuboTV, Spring Health, Play Dots and others.
Before joining Northzone, Mr. Pärson ran his own investment firm and was a consultant at McKinsey. He holds an MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics.
